Baxter Black

November 19, 2016 by

My baby boy dog. My child. My companion. My trusted best friend with love to give with a willing heart. When I was lonely, you were there with understanding eyes and noble head, only asking for praise and a pat on the head. You have been my “Rock” throughout the past 9 years. Baxter, you were the bravest and smartest dog with the largest heart of any dog I have known. So many trips to the vet and to the CSU Vet Hosp for two radiation treatments for nasal cancer, but you braved them all with courage and patience seldom seen. You became the hit and darling of all you met wherever you went. You were my ambassador at the front door and greeted all friends and party-goers as loving friends. I miss you so much. I can still see you running, chasing squirrels, rolling in the grass, and playing with your best friend, Louie. The car is not the same without you by my side. I come home and you are not there to greet me at the door. The house is so empty. People tell me to just get another dog. There is NO other dog that could EVER replace you. You are “One of a kind.” All I want is for you to walk around the corner and surprise me with that beautiful, intelligent face again. You taught me how to live and how to die, never complaining, never asking why. Our own lives should be so noble, so full of grace. Your cousin, Sadie, misses you too. I hope you know that I Love You very much in life as well as in death.
You will NEVER be forgotten, Baxter Black
